How an engagement runs

Whether you book a script review or the full CLI design engagement, the rhythm is the same: listen to real invocations, write decisions down, pair on the riskiest edges, leave you with artifacts your next hire can use.

  1. Scope call (45 minutes)

We ask for example commands, failure stories, and who maintains the repo. You receive a draft statement of work within three business days.

  2. Access & observation

Read-only repo access or tarball, plus anonymized shell history if available. We note conventions you already follow so recommendations stay compatible.

  3. Design decisions weekly

Short written updates with open questions. Flag renames or breaking changes are flagged before any pairing session implements them.

  4. Pairing on critical paths

Remote screen-share or in-person at our Bree Street office. Sessions focus on parsing, config discovery, and test seams—not line-by-line typing for the whole codebase.

  5. Handoff review

Walkthrough with your team, annotated README sections, and a backlog of optional improvements ranked by effort.
